If you are looking for a place to go to university, then Edge Hill should be up there in your selection. For undergraduates, the university is ranked in the top five for student satisfaction in the whole of England, according to the National Student Survey, 2016.
Why is Edge Hill so popular?
The university campus itself is set on a series of lakes, stunning landscaped grounds, and even features a beach – for those not-so-rare-anymore hot days. The environment is conducive to study, but also to activity, with many great facilities available. In fact, an annual league table ranked Edge Hill amongst the top universities for its facilities – yet another accolade for this amazing university.
With over 2000 rooms available in the on-site halls of residence, students can live amongst each other, soaking up all the benefits of student life. The latest developments have made the rooms and facilities more modern, and have offered the addition of a Technology Hub, Sports Centre with grounds and fantastic facilities, and much more.
A new student services centre and library are also set to be added to the campus facilities.
What Can I Study at Edge Hill University?
There is a wide range of undergraduate and post graduate courses available at the university, including, but not limited to Animation, Computing and Web Development, Biosciences, Advertising, Film and Television, Law and Criminology, Nursing and Social Care, Sport, Psychology and much more.
The best way to decide whether a university is for you or not is to visit the campus for yourself. There are regular open days available, throughout the year, which give you a great opportunity to explore the buildings, bars, sports centre, and other facilities. There will also be people on hand to be able to answer your questions about the university if you visit on an open day.
The Local Area
Edge Hill University is actually located in Ormskirk, on the outskirts of Liverpool. This market town features a parish church, good transport links into Liverpool, which is just 13 miles away, supermarkets, as well as a number of bars and restaurants. Furthermore, there are several lovely parks to explore, including Victoria Park, Coronation Park and Ruff Wood.
Some of the best restaurants in the town and surrounding area include Moor Hall (nearby in Aughton), which includes vegan and vegetarian options; The Hop Vine (nearby in Burscough), which is great for reasonably priced pub grub; The Blue Mallard (also in Burscough) – perfect for special occasions; and Left Bank Brasserie, which has fantastic feedback from everyone who goes there. There are many others too and plenty of bars for students who just want to leave the campus and go for a few drinks in the surrounding area. Another favourite amongst students in Ormskirk is Piri Piri.
